Historically dating back hundreds of years, the definition of 'Kilim' is a fabric meant to cover and preserve an expensive Hand Knotted Persian rug. The more expensive the hand knotted rug the more intricate and colorful was the Kilim. Kilims started as a fabric then later became the layman's rug. Now Kilims have become a fashion statement. a classic, just like the famous Flokati rug. In this country there is resurgence of this flat weave reversible masterpiece. Hellenic has taken 12 of the best designs and transformed them into a combination of Jute and wool. Jute is used because this fiber ability to be easily stained and enables us to obtained this unique antique look.
